About us

The Regional Movement Vuela Libre for children and adolescents free of Commercial Sexual Exploitation is a project founded in 2013 in Bolivia with the support of ICCO Cooperación Sudamérica. It currently has presence in Peru, Colombia, Nicaragua, Paraguay and Bolivia. 

Vuela Libre contributes to the construction of regional movements that articulate knowledge and actions between State organizations, civil society and the private sector. It seeks to inform, guide and address the problem of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC). It has a Political Incidence Plan for the organization, lobbying, mobilization, negotiation, citizen enforceability and communication to prove the multiple offences of the CSEC.

Objectives

  • Empowerment of children and adolescent victims or at risk of CSEC in their rights, encouraging them to act as agents of change in their contexts.
  • Local and national governments committed to guarantee protection systems against the CSEC.
  • Generate co-responsibility from the private sector, mainly related to tourism, hotel companies, transportation and natural resources extractive sectors to help affront the CSEC.  

Intervention axes

Private Sector: The Regional Movement Vuela Libre works with the private sector, mainly related to the industry of travel and tourism, hotel and transportation companies helping with actions to contribute to confront the CSEC, generating protection codes, prevention protocols and denounce and early alert systems.

Child and adolescent Empowerment: The Regional Movement Vuela Libre works for the empowerment of children and adolescent victims or at risk of CSEC in their rights; encouraging them to act as agents of change within their family, community and social contexts and to have collective organization capacities to speak for themselves, defend themselves, seek protection and visualize future life projects.

Communities: The Regional Movement Vuela Libre works with families and communities to encourage effective prevention strategies and protective environments against the CSEC and to implement actions to report this crime.

Government: The Regional Movement Vuela Libre works with governments to ensure protection systems against the CSEC, taking into account the compliance of national and international laws that protect children and adolescent rights.
